Yes I agree. It's the make or break of the vision. When the sound works it's fantastic to hear the engine and gears, when all you can hear is the roaring windshout you just turn the sound or everything off.
There must be some trick as you say.

Most cameras have an aux. microphone port. What I would do is connect an external microphone and mount it at a point near the dash.

I really like my camera mount. They advertise it as the ones that are used by the guys on TopGear. Is that true? I don't know, but it is a great mount. I've tested it on the exterior of the car in excess of 100mph and it held on.

The suction cup is great and leaves no mark on the car of any kind. It attaches to both glass or paint, but you need a flat surface, so many parts of a 911 don't fit the bill - but enough parts do. Also the mount can articulate in many different configurations, so the sky is the limit on various angles.

You can see in the pic that I've got a mic cover on the add-on mic. This does not cut down on wind noise even when mounted inside the car with the windows down. I'll try taping over it next and also taping something over the built in mic in a sperate test to see what happens.

That looks like a quality mount. Any links to where you got it from.
