Hello everybody !!
its been a bit of a while since I've visited the site, so thought I'd just pop in and say hi
Hope your all okay.
Just wondering if there are any meets coming up, and what I've missed out on (and no I'm not going to read all the last 6 months posts to find out ! )
I still have my 993 (for now) but its not getting used much for various reasons.
Hope to see some of you soon over a
Cheers,
John.

Hi Tito,
Not so much changing it, rather just moving it on.
Our car count got a bit silly over the last year (at one point we were up to 6 !).
I brought an Audi RS4 this time last year and am having a great laugh with it.
The 993 hasn't been used this year. That's mainly due to building work going on
and not being able to get it out the garage.
The trouble is, it has shown me I don't really miss driving it, so could do without
it altogether. This would also give me the cash & opportunity to embark on another
motorised project I've been itching to do for some time
If a pub meet gets organised please send me a pm as I'd love to meet up withyou lot again.
I have spoken with Rob recently (sold his turbo - got an M5 now), and Steve Wall too.
If we organise a get together I'll be sure to post it up here too.
All the best,
John.

Hi John and Tito,
I would be up for a meet while we still have a little sun. John - if you are seriously looking at selling your car I might be interested in some of the goodies that you have salted away on it.
Cheers,
David

If someone wants to magic up a date & venue then I'll mail Steve & Rob to let them know.
I think we've all been to the pub in Windsor, so maybe that would be a good place to meet.
David, I'll brear your comments in mind mate. I've already sold on the plastic-back sports
seats I had but have a few other goodies lurking about (spare set of carpets, genuine lhd
HiDs, full set of aircon components incl heater box) .
I'll most likely let the car go with the PSS9s and HiDs fitted as I don't have the time at present to remove them.
Let me know what you guys decide. Wednesdays are best for me.
Cheers,
John.

Howdy John / Tito - also been a long time since I have visited Rennlist - thought I would have a look in to see what is happening in the Porsche world as due to some sort of miracle it is a little slow at work today!
Sold the 993 well over a year ago now, and went over to the dark side - bought myself one of those Prancing Pony red cars!
Anyway, hope all is well with everybody, if you guys decide to have a get together, will probably pop along, as long as you don't all gang up on my poor defenceless steed!
Cheers
Eric

Hi Eric ,
Please do come along.
Hows' it going?
How is the dark side - did you go for a 355?
How does the noise, reliability, performance & cost of repairs/mods compare ?
Tito

Tito, all is well, thanks for asking.
I did get a 355 indeed - a UK car, Berlinetta, Rosso Corsa with Crema leather. She is absolutely beautiful. In terms of design integrity and build, it can't hold a candle to the 993 (that car was truly cast from solid granite). However I am suprisingly impressed with the build quality and reliability, other than routine servicing (which can be fairly reasonable from independents - £500 for an annual service. OK the Cambelt service is a different issue £Large, but that is once every 3 years), I have had zero issues with the car. Starts first time every time, and had no small niggles at all with it, has so far never missed a beat (thats jinxed it hasn't it..)
What it does have is a soul, it feels so special every time I get in and drive it. That feeling has never gone away. The sound of the V8 screaming at 8000rpm sends a tingle down my spine every single time. Never get bored of that sound.
Performace is far above my 993, and the handling is sublime (feels rock solid and planted at whatever speed, I always got a bit nervous when at very high speeds in the 993).
As regards mods, there isn't an awful lot you can do to it (thankfully). Other than a Tubi exhaust (£1400) and a decat (another £600 or so), the rest is fairly cosmetic (challenge grill etc).
Another bonus is that the insurance is cheaper - £800 v £1200 for the 993!!! And no I can't quite figure that one out either......
Having said that, I still do hanker after a 993TT, and was sorely tempted when 911 Virgin had a Turbo S in recently. Perhaps will return to the light side after my flirtation with the Italian mistress!
Look forward to catching up when you guys organise a meet.

Congratulations !
I have always lusted after a 355 but been scared off by horror stories.
It sounds like you have a winner.
I would ideally like to own one of these beauties one day aswell.
If we do arrange to meet up it would be a treat to see your car and of course your goodself.
How does one of the evenings this coming week sound to everyone?
I should be able to make one of these or even the weekend coming.
Best wishes.
Tito.

I can probably do most evenings this week. Eric I would love to see your car - I've always fancied one as well but considered myself too poor to run it properly.
How about this Wednesday?
Cheers,
David

I'd like to join you for a drink if I can. I'm off to Wentworth this week hoping to do some caddying on the Seniors Tour. Hope you are all well.
