Angry Unscrupulous supplier!

Usually suffer from the very "British" trait of not complaining about poor service but just had an unpleasant experience with one of the larger unofficial Porsche part suppliers online that has made me rethink!

I bought some parts from their website the other day, and on delivery, noted that the price on the invoice was considerably more than the price on the website, more than 10% on one item. Wasn't sure of my facts so I went online that night and double checked the website, sure enough, they'd over charged me noticeably. I wrote them a polite email explaining this and asking for a credit and waited for the reply.

They wrote back the following day saying I was mistaken and that If I checked the website, I would indeed find I was wrong. Well, I logged on and you couldn't imagine my surprise to find the new prices on the web site! What these jokers didn't take into account was that I saved a full copy of the webpage with a time and date that I hope will be the evidence I need to get my credit card company to lean heavily on them.

In the big scheme of things, this must be peanuts for a company as large as theirs but why tread on the fingers of the little guy? I spent hundreds with them over the last couple of years and will now take that business elsewhere, as well as making sure I spread the good word on their behalf.

Not about to start naming names and risking breaching etiquette of this great site, but if anyone is interested who this "honourable" outfit is, I'd be happy to let you know privately. Just be aware of any company you're not 101 % sure about.

Sorry for my bitchin'!

You should name and shame.
Avoid us making the same mistake and they loose business due to their bad practise.
Tito.

You're right!!!

The company is Design 911.

I ran this thread on the 964 forum also, you may want to read the reactions there.... I was convinced that NOT naming them was wrong as it allows others to suffer the same fate!

I too owe them squat, and as I can prove I was wronged, I'm not in the slightest worried or embarrassed about naming them here, I just didn't want to upset the "management" of Rennlist if it breached what is considered acceptable posting.

Hopefully just making one member here think twice about spending hard earned cash with them will make it worthwhile.

Thanks for your interest.

Thanks for sharing. This should be a prime use of the regional forum to highlight good and bad suppliers.

Cheers,

Yeah I have had bad experiences from those guys too.

I bought an engine lid damper from them. They sent me the wrong one.
I had to send it back "at my cost". In the meantime, they sent me a replacement but charged me for it again. I had to argue with them for
a refund on the original.

Also, I have noticed that every time you call them, they sound totally
bothered by your call. What I am trying to say is that it seems to me the
guy you speak to can't wait to put the phone down on you. I hate calling them they are so rude.

after reading colourwoods post on the 964 forum , i will not use design 911/europorsche again .
to be fair , i used them about 2 days before work finished for christmas . phoned them , paid half my x-mas bonus into there account from a branch in manchester , phoned again to let them know , parcel arrived next day !!
very pleased with the service , but can't risk using them again and being ripped-off !!
i dont have credit cards , only use cash , want things doing right instantly , and get very annoyed at waiting for anything or incompetant salesmen !!
to get messed around like colourwood has been would push my stress-levels through the roof !!

on a more positive note , i have had the pleasure of dealing with :
9meister (tuning and bodyshop when they where seperate)
prestige salvage leeds
southbound trimmers
mann island opc liverpool
douglas valley breakers lancashire
porsche-apart lancashire
leathercare renovations warrington
stuttgart connection essex
perfect finish lancashire

i have had the mis-fortune of dealing with alloy-wheel-referbishing of bury

not wanting (too much) to hijack this thread but who would you recommend (or not recommend) in London (Central/East) for servicing 964s?
