Picking a car up from Stuttgart
Heyup.
My GT3 has a March build date, I really want to get with the whole Porsche experience so I'd love to pick the car up from Stuttgart. However, I certainly don't want to pay £850.00 for the privilege. I don't need the flight over, I don't need the hotel and I don't need the flash lunch.
Basically, has anyone ever picked up a car from Stuttgart and how did they rate it? More importanly, was anyone able to arrange for just the pick up without the special sauce?
I've posted this question on a new UK Porsche Forum - feel free to have a look (Stuttgart Nines )
Cheers,
Cem

Pick up point for Porsche is through a door in the back of the Porsche museum - which incidentally is small. You also get a factory tour - pick up point for this is the museum reception.
Can't see the point myself - putting on 600 + extra miles for nothing but hey, I can't afford a new Porsche so who cares. German roads aren't all there cracked up to be either- very busy, heavy lorry traffic so don't think you will stretch beyond about 120 mph.
I was at the factory a couple of months ago - took the trip in a Cayenne Turbo - fantastic ride from Porsche's replacement for the Tiger tank!

You must have been in some high density areas then, my experiences show Germany as having some of the best roads in Europe. New autobahns that stretch for miles, beautiful country roads - love it. Go there at least once a year for a drive.

£850 sounds a lot at first; but then if it includes travel costs, hotel and everything, then it's actually quite reasonable...
Would be a shame to look back and wish you had...
