Hi Ajit,

Nothing's been arranged yet. Caveman's out of the country on business at the mo (for a week or so), so hopefully something will get organised when he gets back.

Hope things are going well at the new place.

Let's leave it until the snow goes away and then set something up?

Cheers,

David

Hey all,

Good idea Caveman.

Jason - new place is good, i'll send you an email.

Am now thinking of getting the turbo/S front PU - mine needs respraying anyway. Already got the techart air intakes etc. Anyone know what the cost of painting a new PU is?

Surj - surely a car park full of 911s is worth a trip around the M25....

Work - yes, a mixture of private and other now.

PS - enjoyed the article on the France trip.

Is anyone up for doing any track days this year - Autotrack are doing a couple of good European ones, Le Mans Buggati and Spa.

Hi Surj,

Last time we met a few miles from junction 17 of the M25 (not far from maple Cross/Watford) which is not too far south? The pub was good and it had a large car park with wide spaces.

Ajit - drop me a line if you are thinking about the Turbo PU. I got mine done and can reccommend it.

Cheers,

David

Ajit - nurburgring dates are online - whos up for a trip?

http://www.nuerburgring.com/eng/frame_04.htm

I know JohnB is arranging a trip but I cant go in July as Anita is due our second child in July and buggering off to the 'ring would be a really, really bad move!!! So anyone up for it in April???

Yeah I can make it round to JZ or thereabouts - but during the week maybe pushing it abit - having said that, I leave work in about 3 weeks so I can make it for a drink anytime!!!!

Surj

Nurburgring sounds great. I've got a peice of work on which knocks me out for April, May and June so July is a good candidate. Whats the due date for the baby. You are right to be cautious - I went skiing 3 weeks before our first son - (planned a long time before) - and I still haven't lived that down.

The Autotrack/PCGB Le Mans track day in July - and also the Spa day in September both sound good. Would you be able to make the Spa date?

Caveman - tell me more about the turbo PU please - Gert does them for around £750 I think. I've located a used one for circa £350. I've got the brake cooling kit installed already - I assume there's no complication with that. Do you perceive any other benefits or is it purely cosmetic?

Cheers

Ajit.

Hi Ajit,

Jasmine do a new one for £450 (see 911 World). I cannot remember if it includes VAT or not. Gert's price is compatible with a OPC price. Only benefit is it looks excellent! No performance advantage. According to Gert there was a Porsche option that offered this plus the turbo spoiler but I've never seen a car with these two together (would look good though). Installation is a simple bolt on, bolt off with a little bracket required to cover the flaring out at the bottem of the sides of the new nose (compared to the original, the nose drops down flat at the sides rather than curving under - not sure if this makes any sense but compare a turbo nose and a regular, looking from the front, and you'll see what I mean).

Let me know if you have any queries or want to see mine.

Cheers,

David

Back to the original subject -

How about a drink one weekend evening this month? Maybe an early Sunday evening - trundle up for opening time and leave by nine?

Cheers,

David

David - I'd love to see the PU in the flesh. Why the big price difference between OPC and other - are they all genuine parts?

Drink up - your idea sounds good. I hvae some biker friends and when the weather is forecast tobe good, they sometimes ride down to the south coast early on a weekend morning, have a fry up and are back home by 10/11 am. Great way to start a day!

Well guys, I'm off work now (wooohoooo!!!!) so can probably make it anywhere (within reason)!!

btw: I know its a little short notice, but I'm arranging a lunch and drive for this Sunday (22nd) just off J8 of the M11. Lunch in a pub followed by a 'spirited' blast along some fast lanes. Started off as quite small (5 cars) and has now escalated into 11 BMW Z3s and about 6 Porsches (993s, 996s and a 968). If anyone's interested PM me. I'll be submitting final lunch numbers to the pub on Wed morning so let me know before then.

Unfortunately, Jasmines price has gone up to approx 520 + VAT. I checked last week.
I understand that the part comes directly from Porsche Germany.
