Default Free oil change and filter at Champion Motors...

I just got an email from Champion Motors in Pompano offering a free oil change and filter for my GT3 good in August. I'm always concerned about "free" offers. I had an oil change about a year ago.

Anything FREE raises questions.

Does your last oil change indicate MOBIL 1 Synthetic ?
This FREE may not be the same type of oil.

Champion claims they will use synthetic oil and original Porsche oil fliter. Most concerning to me was that they will also do a "complete safety inspection".

I would give it a shot and ask if the safety inspection is also free.

I was there last week and they quoted me a $250 fee to do a complete
Inspection of the 928 I just purchased. Oh, they'll waive that charge on
My first maintenance I have done at Champion.

I did this last year. I'm already on the list for this year, too. The safety inspection is their tech giving the car a once-over. No hard sell. I LIKE having a Porsche tech look over the car. There were no catches, no "while we have you here let's ding you $567,000 to do unneeded work" There was Zero BS.

Good for you. There's really no downside to this deal. Yes, they hope you will come back for more work, but there is nothing wrong with that. You don't have to if you don't want to - they won't make something up.

My car is at Champion now. You get Pennzoil not Mobil1, but I will do another oil change before my next track event in October. Pennzoil and a fresh filter will do fine for puttering around town.

Car had a CEL anyway and figured I need fresh oil after 8 track days. I usually don't wait that long but they were 8 consecutive out of state track days.

The oil change went great. Doug got the car in & out promptly. No issues found on the tech inspection. Thanks, Champion!!

Friend of mine had his 996 TT's oil changed there too and it was with Pennzoil, what's up with that? Mobil 1 is not the factory recommendation anymore? Or is but Pennzoil is also?

Just curious.
