Question Lightbulb Icon

I am curious as to when a lightbulb icon is supposed to turn off. In my case, it takes several visits to the thread without a new post before it goes out.

Viken,
In my case, I have to simply visit once and the lightbulb is switched off on my next visit. It does not seem to matter if I have clicked (read) new posts or not.

I may be mistaken but I seem to remember that sometime back it seemed to perform in the manner that you describe so I wonder if it is something I did in my profile or preferences or perhaps even in internet explorer (do not recall changing any cache settings etc. so it is most likely not the latter). Sure seems like a user driven choice since we seem to be getting different results.
