Been following it closely. The shop owner is toast.

Deserves to be toast. The owner does not have the option of ordering a replacement from the factory.....

Cam, I still remember that Road & Track P.S. image of the Ferrari 512BB in the ditch, it was and still is one of my all time favorite looking vehicle, a neighbor down one street from my parent's house had one in the early '80s, I would walk down often just to see if he's washing it outside.

Just read the thread just wow. This community definitely came through to help the owner piece it together. The shop owner should just do himself and everyone a favor and close down.

The owner's post and images on the shop's FB page have been taken down, but not comments by other FB users.

Are you talking about the crashed one by a newspaper publisher from Fort Erie off a road in the Hamilton escarpment area back in the late 70's? (And famous photo)

I'll ask my dad the exact location but Fort Erie area sounds right IIRC

Just read the entire thread...incredible. This is precisely why I'm so hesitant to leave my car (even though it's just a lowly, old 911) with shops... Even the reputable ones.

A bunch of years ago, at a very well known dealership, I saw an oil change person drive a customer's brand new Infiniti G35 coupe into an oil pit by accident...car dropped on it's front suspension components. It was frantically lifted out using a few pump jacks and client wasn't notified. **** happens indeed...

I hate driving clients cars on road tests simply because if something happens it will end up on the net and there goes the business. I'm not nervous about myself but rather other people possibly smashing the car. I install lots of goodies on turbo BMWs which make them very fast... Just drive it normal and hand the keys back. If the owner wants to wreck the car let them do it. There is a shop around here that smashed a 991 Turbo on a road test, the mechanic was taking a selfie... It was all settled with insurance but the dummy posted the selfie photo.

Funny story. I have a really good client actually friend with a Ford GT that I pick up from his house and drive to my shop which is about 30 mins away. As soon as I get on the highway I have people taking photos or filming video... that happened in traffic once. The good part is he does a hardwired front and rear dash cam.

I hate driving clients' cars too. Whenever I do an import from the states, if I'm driving it back myself it's always a stressful trip. I drive a client car like a granny, but I'm still always worried about some jackass doing something stupid.
