Default A really tough 300,000 miles 996

http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/t...f=47&t=1601182

We have many discussions about the durability of Porsches and every generation has its weaknesses. Still, its refreshing to see a car built for a very hard life, and the owner is intending to put another 250,000 miles on it after engine rebuild....

There was another 996 Turbo in Panorama that hit over 400,000 miles and finally was replaced when the engine subframe was determined to be sagging! At that point it wasn't worth repairing as the story went.

The replaced it with a 991 Turbo.

What does "the engine subframe was determined to be sagging" exactly means? Was it bent?

The Panorama 996tt had 572k MILES (~920k km) on it!
Mag #699
Poor diagnosis (est. $10k fix) from dealer caused the owners to sell it for a 991TT...fuel pump wiring connector issue ($100 fix)

I just remember reading that it was "sagging" which did seem weird. The story implied that it had deformed from age and mileage. I don't think they were tracking it...just lots and lots of well maintained miles.

I can't access the article (maybe you can) but here's the link: https://www.pca.org/panorama/edition/panorama-june-2015

Oh...this was in response to the story I was talking about. Sounds like there's more to it.

I love high mileage cars that people give up on them. Was a sweet deal for whoever got it for a song and dace. How much could really worth a 996tt with that many miles?

The interesting part is that this is a m96 engine. Though I suspect that easy driven combined with long distance without the freezing cold starts our Canadian engines have to start from is the reason it has lasted so long.
