I am pretty far in the process, having dealt with the city on multiple occasions for permits and the banks for various products.
There is a lot of variation at all stages of the process so am hoping to get a couple reference points from a couple builders and is why I had started the thread.

I've seen people go both ways - create a very custom home that they can't hope to sell and have seen others stay more conservative and do quite well. I've also seen people create a custom cottage with glass windows so large that the truck needed to carry them couldn't make it up the road, requiring a boat which carried the truck (and windows) to the back of the cottage itself. So it is very easy to go crazy expensive.

My family had Modular Home Additions do some work for us but on the commercial side. Residential is 95% of their business.

A+ work and will use them for residential sooner or later.
