Going to the states and looking to unlock my hand me down LG g3 (d852) to use with Roam Mobility...
Anyone have 1st hand experience with any of the websites out there that email you a code?
Last time I unlocked a phone was my old Samsung Galaxy s3 -- easy.. .but I found a free generic code online.....

have the initial carrier do it.
many "codes" reset when you do a software update and its locked again. the carrier unlocks are trouble free and permanent.

I use unlock services all the time for work phones. The LG G3 can be unlocked and its permanent. I use mobileincanada dot com (no affiliation) and you just send them the IMEI (press *#06# on any phone) or its under the battery.
It may take half a day so dont panic Ive never been ripped off by them. Once you get the code you need to put the non-authorized SIM into it and then boot up. It will ask for unlock code then enter the code.
(Many phones can be unlocked with software and rooting also but its a bit more complicated I can advise off board).
Good luck,

I've also used the cheapest ebay sellers from overseas... again never been ripped off. Sometimes you wait a day or two for the code but anyone who gets a carrier unlock code gets it from the same place and those are permanent. Big carriers are the most expensive ($50), the websites next ($15-30) then ebay guys are the cheapest ($8-20). One code does not work better than another they permanently carrier unlock the phone.

Thx guys.
Ended up using cellunlocker dot net.
Paid with PayPal and the $7.99usd came out as $11cdn.
Code arrived within the hour. Unlocked following their YouTube instructions when I got home.
I'm going to use roam mobility while skiing at jay peak for 4 days after new years . Hopefully I get decent reception. I know that sometimes my telus phone doesn't play nice with the 4g band that roam/t mobile uses. Hopefully my LG-D852 G3 plays nice.
$4.95/day roaming with roam, vs $7/day with Telus.
Wife and kids are just buying 🇺🇸 US booster packs for their koodo prepaid phones.... Minimal texting and talk packs. The koodo plan is actually a really good deal.
