I don't think Canadian Tire sells jugs of Mobil 1 5w40 ...or am I wrong? Can't seem to find this oil anywhere.

Give Noco lubricants a call in Toronto, Avenue
Auto Parts should be able to get it for you. ^

You could try and give your local Walmart's a go, $9.97 a bottle out here in Alberta.

They do sell the Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel Truck version of 5W - 40, which Kevin from UMW endorses as an excellent alternative oil to the traditional Mobil 1 0W- 40.

Here's the link to Kevin's comments:

I would caution against this until you do more homework on the CJ4 to CK4 oil specification that is now the reality for all diesel engine oils. Some formulations may not be backward compatible.

I assume that this is for a bike and NOT a P car. It may be Mobil but it's not for cars.

As long as there's an SJ or later (SN) rating indicated on the package you are fine.

Comes highly recommended from multiple sources for air cooled cars. I believe it is because of higher zinc content.

From Mobil:

...motorcycle engine oil does not contain the friction modifiers of a passenger car engine oil. The second area of concern for motorcycle engine oils is that they tend to shear (break down viscosity) more quickly than a typical passenger car.

Despite the above, Shell's best motorcycle oil meets the API's SM standard. However, the Mobil1 T4 oil does not. But that might not be an issue as it does meet the obsolete SH standard which was fine for 1996 and earlier model cars.

Still, given the price difference why not just use motor oil? If ZDDP is an issue check the TDS for a given brand of oil and you'll probably find that it will meet the needs of our older P cars. If you're still worried, I'll sell you a few bottles of ZDDP additive for $10 each (plus shipping).

Or, you can buy it here: http://www.autopartscanadaonline.ca/...oil-additives/

Thanks for the info and the offer. I tend to defer to the folks on the 993 forum that know way more than I do about these cars. I'm going to post a thread over there and ask if anyone has experience with this stuff.
Thanks!

Allan your twin is fine and high in zddp. Stay away from additives as they can upset the balance
I run brad penn and it is available in Canada. If i can't find that I use vr1 racing or Kendall

They are available at most car shows.
