Default Durametric Recommendation

Does anyone have recommendations for diagnostic tool, I have basic OBD2 code reader, but seems like I need something more advanced.

There seem to be some "generic" ebay specials or should I spring for the real deal?

Thanks

Chris

i share a durmetric pro with a about half a dozen other rennlisters here.

i believe the basic durematric doesnt do too much other then reset service lights and i think it does read basic engine codes... not sure if it can do dme scans; disable cdn drl, enabled remote key windows etc etc etc.

I would stick with the basic OBD2 reader and find someone with a Durametric or PIWIS for the rare odd diagnostic...IMO not enough functionality on solely a 996.1 Carrera to bother buying one

Thanks, I'm currently trying to chase down a new "rattle" that I have a thread started over on the 996 bit of the forum. Seems it could be anything from Scored bores to lifters to cam chains etc.

One of the recommendations from Jake Raby was to disable the injectors one by one to see what effect this had on the noise, I would need a durametric for this I believe.

Cheers

Chris
