Wow, haven't heard that in a while. I suddenly feel drunk...

Can't join you guys, that's the same dates as our Niagara drive which I'm organizing. It'd be kind of lousy for me to not show!

By the way, the "banquet hall" is a winery. I guess you could wait in your car...

Fantastic! Interested drivers include one from Quebec (I forget the city..!), Brockville, TO and more.

By the way, the Farmers' Almanac is calling for above-average temperatures for this period of time. I suppose that while that may be a safe bet, it's always a nice time of the year for such an activity as this.

Looks like a good run . I am glad other people are picking up the " fall drive" mantle . The one in SW Ontario serves many but not all.
Now we have a Rennlist drive for the East and the west. im hoping it is a great success for you and you can make it a recurring tradition.

we have done the winery as part of our fall tour a few times and it was always a great success. the only reason we stopped was because it was making for a very long day and the amount of people turning out was making it un manageable.

There was a time when a run in this part of the world would attract 60 participants. It was run under the auspices of the PCA but I don't know much more than that.

My biggest fear is not being able to make everyone happy. Case in point: the last couple of runs I participated in involved speeds that were easily 50 kph over the limit. Add to this the desire to 'stay with the group' regardless of who was sharing the road and you can see why some people simply turned off and were not seen or heard from afterwards.

One year the lunch served to eliminate half the group as they were eager to get going on the road rather than socialize. I don't recall a lot of drinking during lunch but even one or two may have made some nervous.

To my mind one needs to build in lots of stops--preferably the 'natural kind' such as a Ferry ride, natural attractions (a Lake on top of a Mountain!) and pit-stops for bathrooms, refreshments and more.

Having said all that, the Rick Nelson song Garden Party reverberates through my mind loud and clear.

well here are some tips that we did .. and things to consider.

don't make it a whole day .. start early and end about 2 with a late lunch , some people will bring snacks.

work in at least one very quick bathroom stop then on tour way .

number one rule is keep the person behind you in site at all times ...

number two . don't be a D-bag as you are representing the brand and the people.

These guidelines have served us very well over the last 10 years or so.

people want to drive .. so we drive .. socializing is done before we head out and over lunch . Those who don't want to socialize don't have to come to lunch. after it wraps up at about 3:30 or so people still have the rest of the day ..

those who want to exceed the limit by 50 .. you guys go first in your own group.

This the very advice I would pass along to anyone else thinking of organizing an event. Not so much about giving Porsche drivers a bad name. However, my experience in sport suggests that (other) motorists respect organization.
