Winter Tires 2016
Which winter tires are you guys going to be running this coming winter? I have been running Michelin Pilot Alpin PA2's and have been very happy with them. Provide decent winter grip while offering surprisingly good handling. Unfortunately they are running low and don't think they will last me another full winter season.
I know the other Porsche tire people run are the Pirelli WinterSottoZero... but I heard they actually have pretty poor grip in the snow. So are there any other choices? I don't think Michelin makes tires in 911 sizes anymore for winter? (performance winters)

Four good fresh snow tires? I'm happy with most brands.
I'm more concerned with price vs time and millage.
On my other cars, I'm running a Viking.
Same tire, Viking is $90, semperit $110, dunlop is $120.
Same tire, three prices.
I'm 90, replace the fourth year, no matter the millage.
Plus I can get at least 150-200 for the used one's. Some kid is supper happy.
Ran Dunlop snows 19" on lobster's on the 997s. Great tire, until the unplowed roads would lift the car off the ground.
Don't forget the tow rope, shovel, jumper cables, snow brush. Only 5 more weeks until snow....

I run Michelin PA4 for the winter and highly, highly recommend them... same comment as above, solid performance in the snow and excellent handling when it is cold/dry.

I was thinking the same thing. I am likely in the market for new winter rubber and am running 235/40/18 and 265/40/18 on 8 and 10" rims.
The only ones I can find on Tirerack are the Pirelli sottozero series II for $190 each front and $260 each rear (ouch)

Last November I bought Sailun WSL2 in the 16" size for my Jetta.
Very happy with them.
- Cheap.
- Round, Black
- good grip for all types of winter conditions.
- I found them quiet for a winter tire.
I put probably 20,000km on them last winter, very good wear. Will get this winter out of them for sure, maybe part of the following winter as well.
I travel from the KW area to Listowel and Wingham daily for work, as well as to almost every rink this side of the GTA.
Edit: Sorry, do not know if Sailun makes tires in Porsche sizes.
