On my Porker I have had Pirelli W240 (2 Winters), Falken EuroWinter (6 Winters) and last winter I tried the Kumho KW27 (1 Winter)
My Fav was the Falken EuroWinter loved them but the Rear is Discontinued now
I'm going to try the new Kumho WP71 this winter on the C4S.
My KW27 are for sale btw 225/40/18 & 275/35/18
On both my VW's I have Cordovan WinterClaw and they are amazing specially on Ice!

One and Only Available in that Combo, N-Spec Pirelli W240
also for non Porsche 911 related Winter Tires, I suggest the Pirelli Winter Ice Zero tire available in Several Sizes for normal car/cuv/suv/minivan
This tire came out last winter and we have had great feedback from customers last winter.
Its Priced Mid Range but Top End Brand & Performance

I guess for those of us who are stuck with 19" rims, the only "winter" tires available are the pirelli W240 sottozero or the dunlop sp wintersport 3D. Anyone have experience on both and can attest to which is more capable in light snow?

Its less about the light snow.
Its more about how deep the snow gets vs how low the car is.
Stupid city does not plow during the day because of traffic.
Which I can understand, but really? It may snow during daylight hours???

My existing Dunlops have front tires which were made in mid 2009 and have lots of tread left but getting concerned re the age of the tires. Should I be concerned?
My rears, which were made in late 2011 and mid 2012 have some tread left but pls see the pic. There appears to be 2 sets of wear bars?? The one in the foreground which are quite narrow are much higher then the ones in the background. Hence the higher set are pretty much level with the tread. Which set do you use for guidance??
Thanks

Age vs being concerned?
Depends on how many km's and where your going?
I parked my car for Collingwood weekend drives.
If you're doing >5ooo kms over the winter in Toronto?
I would worry less about age.

Drive all winter to work and weekends etc. Prob don't put 5k on it but at least a 3-4k
Age is one thing, the wear bars is another so need to figure out which one are relevant because if its the higher ones then the rears are prob going to need to be replaced. And if the rears need it then I will have to get new fronts as well as they don't make that kind of Dunlop winters any more...and I don't want to be on mismatched tires
thanks

Answering my own question. The higher wear bars are the "winter" wear bars et at 5/32 at which point snow grip becomes somewhat compromised. Looks like my rears are at these marks so will probably look to replace all 4 esp since the fronts are 7 years old and I cant find this brand anyways
