Never been an issue for me, I use Kipling Tire exclusively based on where I live and they are more than happy to mount them up when I bring them in. $120 total

Rod, it's a common practice these days. Most would rather make the $120 vs nothing and many treat it as an oil change, little margin but hopefully you'll be back when brakes, suspension, diagnostic etc etc need to be performed.

When I got engaged I bought my wife's diamond loose via a wholesaler in the US when the $ was at par. Walked into the local jewler for a custom setting and she said np some profit is better than no profit.

Times are a changing...

Simply Tire is also a great place for tires in the GTA. I bought a few sets there in the last couple of years since the Canadian dollar went south. Prior to that I was getting everything from Tire Rack.

I've used 1010tires, discount tire, Tire Rack, and recently got some Bridgestone RE71R with $70 rebate from Costco. Costco was the cheapest price around the for the RE71R by far.

Default Costco tires

I was at my local Costco today looking at tires. They had Michelin pilot super sports in stock. They said they could order any size tire that you want.

Just returned from Simply Tire. Got winters for my GTI. I was very impressed with the service I received. Booked my appointment with Zookie. They were on time and waisted no time getting my work done and out the door. Guys in the back were very respectful and courteous.

We must have crossed paths as I was there this aft as well. Got 4 Pirelli snows. Its not a convenient location for me but the price was a full $700 cheaper than a local place. For that price diff, its worth the drive!!

Next project, plasti dip my winter rims as they are looking rough

I have had my winter wheels plastidipped in the past. The coating stood up well to the elements at first. But by the next season there were rips here and there.
I woulnt do it again. Waste of money.

Well I'll give it a try and see as I already have the dip. Right now the clear coat has mostly given up so they look terrible. So the alternative is live with it, refinish it or buy new rims. New rims = lots of plastidip

The rims are turbo knock-offs and I like the style so I thought I would see how it works as some I have seen look pretty damn good. I would expect that there will be some touch ups needed or just respray for next winter

This is why it pays in the long run to develop a solid relationship with a independent mechanic... Because I swap and flip tires so often, and end up bringing in so much other work (track cars, and street cars), I usually have to pay very little for mounting/balancing.

"Hey, I bought these tires at TireRack, can you mount them for me?"
"Sure no problem..."
"Okay, I will put the chilled case of beer in the fridge and go say hi to the guys... You want one now?"
"No thanks... bring the tires around and I will get somebody to do it..."
