The 3rd Annual 2016 Hershey Drive Thread
With New Years approaching many of us will have new year resolutions to carry out. Some of us need to get fit, some of us need to volunteer more and some of us really need to drive our cars more; I fit into all 3.
All this said, Patryk and I are once again looking to create the 3rd annual Hershey Porsche Parts Swap Drive. Yay!
Please follow this thread as we will update it to include the pertinent drive dates and you can sign up. In the past we've all had a ton of fun and this year we are putting more effort into researching good quality (*cough* road surface...cough) and driver engaging routes (road we left Hershey on last year was epic!).
Here are some of the past threads with pics of the drives:
https://rennlist.com/forums/rennlist...et-2015-a.html
https://rennlist.com/forums/rennlist...pril-19th.html
https://rennlist.com/forums/rennlist...o-s-going.html
At each years drive we learn more and more about how to control and contain 10-20 Porsche's so this year some notable pluses will be:
1. Improved routing with GPS end point locations - if you get separated you'll know where we will end up
2. More walkie-talkies
3. Each member contact list including phone numbers and email or whatsapp information including car driven or ridden in
4. Less frequent stops unless of course we all radio to stop (scenic lookout or police stop or ice cream which seems to be a Porsche owner favorite...LOL)
There are a number of hotels in Hershey however, we have all had great success with the Holiday Inn Express in Harrisburg PA (close to the swap, close to resturants, etc.) but there are other hotels too. Use the "Rencan Group" booking reference ($139.90 rate for either 1 King Room or 1 Room with 2 Queen beds):
http://harrisburgpahotel.com/ or call (717) 561 8100
Dates:
Depart Toronto - Friday April 15th
Hershey Porsche Parts Swap - April 16, 2016

Depart Hershey PA - in the past we have arrived at the swap meet for 8am and walked around for 3-4 hours, stopped for lunch and gas then made our way back to Toronto.

Just a thought Cam and definitely not trying to hijack here but the Porsche Parade this year is in Jay Peak, Vermont (about 7.5 hour drive) and I hear the concours Monday is incredible!
It's gonna be a tough decision this year.

Why make it a choice, the Porsche Parade is 2 months later, people can do both

I'm thinking of hitting up both depending on work schedule and family holidays.

I'd like to do Hershey again so put me down for that. Am not sure I have the time to do Atlanta. What's the best guess on additional time to Atlanta and back? 3-4 days?
Thanks for getting the ball rolling Cam

Hey Rennlist folk...Patryk and I are meeting next week to start planning out this years drive.
Let us know what you'd like to see and if you'd like to join us this year.
Here's a tentative list of attendees:
1. CamsPorsche - 991 Carrera S
2. Destro - 997.2 Carrera S

In, likely Hershey only
For me, its really about the drive down and back. There were some awesome roads. The swap meet was ok but if you get there early and are looking for parts, then that doesn't take long. Lots of nice cars there but a couple of hours was good for me. Leaving earlier means either your getting back to TO before midnight or on your way to Atlanta earlier. Works for me

Awesome guys!
With the dollar the way it is I don't think I myself will be doing Porsche Center Atlanta but the Hershey drive should be a blast. I'll call the hotel this week and book 10 rooms and get the "Rencan" group discount. If we get more people signing up then we can always add more.
Patryk and I are meeting up this week to go over routes and the priority will be on WAY better driving roads (aka Smoky Mountains etc.)
1. CamsPorsche - 991 Carrera S
2. Destro - 997.2 Carrera S
3. porsche0nut - 911
4. Pags993 - 993 Carrera
5. Vern1 - 997.1 C4S Cab
6. StanthePorscheFan - 997.2 Carrera S
7. woozie - 991.1 C4S

Just an update that we are only doing the Hershey Drive instead of both Hershey and Porsche Center Atlanta. More details to come...
