Default 928 maintenance - disks for TB tensioner needed

Cross-post from english-and-francais section;

I need at least 3 of the disks that go inside the 928 timing belt tensioner, but 10 would be better. When I took the tensioner apart to verify and clean I found 3 broken disks plus 3 that are scored (those that were next to broken ones) and 4 with pitting on them. The disks were not properly installed, I am assuming that's why they broke.

<a href="http://s93.photobucket.com/user/elgyqc/media/Tensioner%20disk1_zpsjh2m91nn.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l73/elgyqc/Tensioner%20disk1_zpsjh2m91nn.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo Tensioner disk1_zpsjh2m91nn.jpg"/></a>

Has anyone got some of these disks or an old tensioner with the disks that they replaced with a PK Tensioner?

Thanks

How many are there in your '78. I think they changed them over the years. I have spare one from an '86.5. Better if you replace all the disks as they might be bent out of spec.

The early engines have 40 disks vs. 35 in the later ones. I'm ready to take a chance on the 30 good ones I have, they look fine. I just got a quote from Roger - the disks are $7.22US each, so about $480CDN for the 40! I don't have that much in my budget at this point.

Do you have a complete tensioner? If so how much do you want for it? I believe that I read somewhere that they are interchangeable?

Wait a little. Gaugeman69 just took a 4.5L apart (same as your engine) and he kept the tensioner. I've texted him and he'll post soon. I'm sure the two of you will make a deal.

visit your local industrial parts shop. They are simple "Belleville washers" but of a certain size and thickness. Should be able to find them surfing the web.
