Default 2001 911 speed yellow

Hello all, this is my first time posting and looking to buy my first porsche.

I am looking to purchase the 2001 996 c2 with gt3 kit below. Per the owner, the IMS had been upgraded to the LN double row, RNS and clutch had been replaced at the same time. The car is a US car with no accident on both carproof and carfax.

I have attached the options sticker as well and it would be great if someone can let me know where i can decode these option codes.

It might be a long shot but it would be great if someone on here who checked out the car before and gives me their opinions.

I would look for a 2002 and + to get a 3.6 engine instead of 3.4. There known to fail.

Price is on the high side to me.

Im selling a 2005 997 c2s convertible with 80k for 36$k. Its a salvage, but the car looks brand new.

Good luck

Paseb, do you know what exactly causes the failure of the 3.4L? This might help Terrence in his research.

No one knows....Just like every other engine made from every other engine manufacturer. The 3.6 has just as many potential issues as the 3.4.

Too bad that yellow 996 has all the cosmetic options but not limited slip differential.

wow 33k for an 01 in February? yes very high side. didn't one of the local members sell almost the same car in silver for 19 two months ago? I would wait for a better deal. if you are in the 30s you can buy a 997.

I agree, price is much on the higher end of the range for sure. But if it has lots of documentation with receipts, IMS, RMS new clutch and up to date maintenance so basically should be a turnkey good to go low maint car for some time wouldn't that sway you? also color is good along with original aero kit from new. what would you say approx. 5K to high?

At 33 id much rather stretch and buy a 997. Thats at the top of the NB 996 market and its an 01. If this car is all that your heart desires then go ahead and buy it.

I also think the price is too high... considering the GT3 package is just lipstick, it really adds only minimum value. Considering it is a 2001, no LSD, not a C4/C4S, with average mileage for a car of this vintage, I would value this car at around $25K.

Remove the GT3 kit, and with a bit of shopping, you can most likely find a car in similar condition (not the same colour) for about $20k-$23K... The $33K is crazy high.

Here is a similar same car, in Mississauga, a bit more mileage, for $23K. It even has the 2002+ headlights:

Buy this, get the LN double row, and RMS stuff and new clutch put in. Buy a body kit, paint it, and you probably still will spend less then $33K...

I'd go $10K more for a clean car with Porsche bodykit and IMS fix than this franken-freak.

this is almost like rebuilding a POS from scratch haha

$33K is really high no doubt about that. I think it's more about what's fair with this car

I would say the car is worth $25k. Factor in YOUR additional expense of the RMS retrofit @ $1k + $3k for unexpected repairs. You should net out a "good" runner for $30k.

The best judgment you can make for yourself is to evaluate the overall condition of the car in-person(paint meter in hand), request for service history documentation and see whether the "seller" is someone you can "trust" with his word. If he seems to be on a shoe-string budget.....expect the car to be reflective of that mantra.

Good luck.

What's fair for that car? $25K - $28K

If you want somebody to tell you to pay $33K because you love the car, I am sure people here can convince you... but the price is too high.

It seems like the spirit of buying a diamond in the rough escapes many people these days... these are old cars, they will all need fixing and paint eventually. I care more about what the car feels like when I am driving then the perception of value because of the uniform paint thickness... I dunno... kids these days... besides, the way I drive, the car will need paint in 2 years anyhow.
