Don't think so. I believe the 996 Turbo only has 2 ranges

For the 996TT:

Type 1 >6750 and <7250
Type 2 >7250

28 overrev time is I believe around .2- .3 seconds the engine spend over the redline

This is pretty much nothing at all. I know sometimes at full throttle and going down a tip and the a slight hill climb I've seen my cars go slightly above redline and not hit the rev limiter.

Jumper is correct, 996 cars only had 2 ranges on the read out. They moved to 6 in the 997 generation.
