Asking for advice from my fellow car guys

Yes, I already posted there that I am interested but would have to sell my car first. Car has been for sale for several months now and no luck. Wrong time of year to sell a Porsche I guess. The advantage of this Miata is they are interested in my car on trade, albeit at a ridiculously low value.

I would have to agree, my dad had a 2001 Toyota Corolla, it had 375,000km, same factory clutch, never needed a single repair other than changing brake pads and oil change at regular intervals. The car is rock solid!

Been thinking that since the thread was started. You bought in too high, got a free engine out of it and now your gona take a bath to drive a corolla. The Cayman is not that bad on gas actually pretty good and other then oil changes which you could get any shop to do and just pay for the synthetic oil cost difference. It is fairly cheap to maintain.

I guess my concern is that with the warranty up and the age of the car I am going to have to start replacing parts and that's going to get expensive.

Brakes and rotors last forever on these cars when not being pushed at a race track. Depending on how you abuse your clutch it could last for 300k. There really isn't anything that needs replacing on these cars with exception to replacement engines in which you all ready have a new one.

I would never trade in or sell a car that I owed money on. You know the history of your car and its in good shape. Just maintain it, don't abuse it and you will be fine.
If you take a bath on the Caymen and buy something else, that all gets added up in your total cost of ownership over a defined period.
Just my 2 cents.

Japanese cars in general are good on gas and cheap to maintain.
Buying an used car you never know how it was abused.
It will be a magic box
You car you know already the flaws of it.
In the end it will be up to your driving style that will determine how long your car will last
I went to school myself for 2 years, I am currently taking my masters at UofT and I still drive my car.
Think wise before trade yours
IMO, keep it and dont push it
If you take care of it, she will take care of you.
