Default OT: F1 Coverage in Canuckistan

Hey,

Does anyone have any tips on how to get the FULL BBC or Sky TV coverage of F1 races and pre-race show in Canada? I really miss all the extra coverage I got when I was living in the U.K. I want to cut the cable chord and drop Rogers (hate them!). Other than perhaps a giant satellite dish, here are my ideas:

1. Sling Box -but you need a 'friend' it the UK that can manage the box over there.

2. U.K. IP address, which will allow me to use the BBC iplayer overseas.

3. Jail break Apple TV2... tried this but still can't get Sky.

Other ideas??

I've been a forum lurker for a while, so have basically no posts. But send me a PM or email and I can give you my comments. This source I use for 'proper' F1 coverage, ie. Sky, is shareable, but not in the open on the forums, only privately.

After missing the Belgium GP due to my Roger's PVR not recording (again!) despite setting the recording properly, I got fed up so here's my solution that seems to work brilliantly:

Got some VPN software which lets you choose an IP address from another country and then got the BBC iPlayer installed. There's hundreds of foreign IP services so choose which one you like -some are free but I guess you get what you pay for. You will have to open a UK iTunes account to get the iplayer from the UK iTunes store. Viola! All the great BBC F1 feeds and commentary (pre and post race shows) for free.

I've now decided to completely cut the chord with cable TV!

just curious but what set up did you use to allow you to drop Rogers (a dream for many of us) and what does it allow you to do?

Just to be clear... I still need Rogers for providing internet. I meant I want to cut the TV cable. Since my TV watching is less and there are so many ways to get TV over internet now: AppleTV, Netflix, iPlayer, Hulu, etc... I'm ready to drop traditional cable company broadcast.

TSN does rebroadcast the F1 races here but offer no pre or post race show and for some reason you can't programme 'series' on the Netbox PVR. You have to program all the races and qualifying shows individually. There are also commercials.
