That's rugged. Terrible.
It makes me wonder what type of driver verification process is involved with the motorcycle run groups. I believe that most car run groups have some kind of process, no?
How do they do it for the bikes?

I believe that CMP had a death last week also.
My question about motorcycle rider verification is in no way intended to incite anyone, just a thought.
I wanted to say that before it was taken the wrong way.

sad to hear. RIP and condolences to the family.
I have been to car events at Mosport where the organizers did not check out or know some of the drivers.
heck they put a guy with a vette (never driven on a track before) in the advanced group and we told him to go back and talk to the organizers.
PCA is very thorough IMO in this area.

Reading the responses is enough for me, I don't think I want to click the link, reading about this kind of stuff close to home hurts, rest in peace and my deepest condolences.

This company has a Red, Yellow and Green run system - green being very novice and led by an instructor. The top group (Red) is for people with racing experiance. I have no idea which group have been involved in both inicidents but I know their days are pretty well run so it may be an issue of bad luck here. They check bikes in a form of a tech inspection - have mandatory riders meetings for safety and flagging rules and I know they react to workers comments concerning what they see out on the track so I think it's a case of 'play safe out there' because at the end of the day - you are in control of your own destiny, (if your not religious I guess!)
The photo on CTV.ca showing a blue bike on the track: was a marshals bike - he came from another station after the shut down.

Very sad indeed, but let's not jump to conclusions on the organizers, etc. Even the best laid plans in the most controlled environment can come unglued through chance, and bad luck. Driving on a track or on the street is dangerous; we should accept and acknowledge that, and do our personal best to reduce the risk, through safety, education, and practice.
