Noticed these in the classified section of Rennlist. To anyone looking to replace their typically rusted OEM lugs, these would be a great option https://rennlist.com/forums/showthre...=887971&page=1

Darkest before the Dawn and all that. Only the bonnet to remove and I can start to think about the rebuild phase.

How are the door check straps? They were stuffed on all 964s I have ever had. Good opportunity to reinforce the welds if need be.

Check strap is broken. Door check strap mount is broken and door has hyper-extended. Leaving the front of the door slightly proud of the wing. A couple of cracks in the door skin seam next to the hinges. The rest of the door is good, no sign of other issues. Certainly no corrosion inside the door.

The goal here is a fully functional well-maintained 911 I can use as a DD, but will also be very tidy. Aside from the door, bonnet and rear bumper underside Herman's body looks very straight.

I will take Paul's advice and resist the temptation for a respray. Instead I will hand it over to OCD or Final Touch to see what they can do with the existing paint.

I'm also being selective with the interior. I have removed two pieces of carpet that are worn and will fit new Sliverknit pieces to those, plus will replace the RS sill covers.

Let's wait until it's back on the road before assigning legend status.

BTW I've found out the hard way that some of the OEM Sliverknit carpet stock for Herman is in the NZ seller's Australian warehouse, which adds freight etc to the cost. As a result I will use my trip to Melbourne next week to pick up what I need rather than pay the local price. Within reason I may have room to pick up other colours if there is a need.

As per the picture I decided that only two panels actually show wear so I need less than a meter of material (it comes in 1.5 meter width. I will get two meters. It is $145 + GST per meter.

Little bit concerned about the fact you're sleeping with your car parts...

It gets worse than that. The magazine on the bed called "Paris I love You" indicates that the parts alone are unable to do it for a john these days! I think that's almost a Macca Cup incident right there...

Look closer - seems to be a disc case, but doesn't look like the standard movie cover for "Paris I Love You" (I had to google it). Must be one of those B grade movies that uses the same movie title as something famous, but has little in relation to it script wise...

Donna came back from Jakarta with over 1,000 rip off DVDs. I thought she had given them all away but it turned out she kept a box of Chick flicks. As long as I don't have to watch them I'm happy. I suspect they come out every time I take off for the garage.

Maybe I should give them away to the WAGs so you can all share in the fun?

Its a nice story John. But the tissue packet under the chair and the tape measure are not working in your favour bud!

Epic! I'll have a perv on Friday, and will try not to breathe too heavily on the glass.

I hope there aren't any mechanical gremlins in Manfeild so I get to see it in action in Taupo.

John since I'm on a PC and the photos are big all I saw initially was your funky blanket. I was relieved to scroll down and see you weren't upholstering Herman with 2 meters of that blanket!
