Planning two routes, a fun run and a Spring Tour, I've borrowed a GPS for verifying mileage. It's a Garmin Street Pilot 2620. Having completed the course for the fun run, and had the event, only one of the 12 Porsches that drove it reported the same mileage shown on the map. Several cars were .5 miles over after the first leg. This leg was 49.0 miles.
Knowing my 944 was running 5% fast, I was surprised to see my GMC pickup runs 2% slow, even with stock tire sizes.
If you can't find one to borrow, you can always do the "cheap bastard" trick. Go buy one, use it for a week and return it.
