$1 says the brand new mid engine 991RSR is built on a modified Cayman tub...

Fire wall and all that looks all Cayman to me. Has Porsche part number on it.

Body in white looks very similar for the two. I'm sure it's modified of course, but I know where they started. i think the real wager is if there will be a 911 branded GT car that is mid engined like AP alluded to.

It's a mid-engine 991..... Saw it up close at Daytona and it's no doubt a mid-engine 991 - Cayman hybrid.

Meaning it's a Cayman with a body kit that's all ate up with motor...

Porsche Motorsports people spoke to the PCA members at the Corral today. They said there is magic in throttle steering a rear engine 911 and the company is married to that design for street cars. However when it comes to "Works models" other car companies are coming at them from all over the world and they must modify these race cars as needed to remain competitive. I also heard Hurley interviewed on radio today and he said the car is not mid engine. He said the engine was moved a bit forward but is still rear engine. The interviewer joked that he had done a good job stating the company line.

The transmission is behind the engine. It is a Cayman. The 911 guys are just too hard headed to admit it.

So, how is it NOT a Cayman? that is the real question.....Just because it has a 991 label?
