Boat battery (marine battery) doesnt equal car battery. their construction is very different. you can warp the internal plates on a car battery vs a marine battery for example when deep discharging it. boiling off the battery fluids while in a state of overcharge (most trickle chargers over charge) can be an issue for any battery, especially lead acid. You might just not know it on a marine battery due to its size and construction.
the main reason to use a "trickle charger" is when its not easy to disonnect the battery during storage, and this is to counteract , current draw that cant be stopped. most batteries don't lose much when disconnected over months of time.

Might want to mount one semi perm to the roof of the enclosed trailex and run the power cord thru a front market light to keep battery on charger when in storage and in transit.
