Back for 2017 is Pirelli World Challenge who will be offering up to 944 Cup racers the following:

A full race season of free entries to the winner of the 944 Cup Nationals for each of the three 944 Cup classes. Pirelli World Challenge also offers a half season of free entries for second place, and one free entry for third place.

All totaled the package is valued up to $60,000 in prizes for the National Championship. More importantly, this offer provides drivers the chance to progress to the next level of competition with a head start on the financial resources needed in the pro ranks. Free entries are applicable for TC, TCA or TCB classes of the PWC series and are strictly prohibited from being transferred, sold, or converted to cash.

Also, PWC is offering a pair of hard card pit passes to any one of the PWC races in 2018. Pick from tracks like Long Beach, St. Pete's, Mid Ohio, COTA, Toronto and more. Added to this list of prizes is a pair of PWC jackets.

I don't want to hijack Dave's thread so we should probably take the discussion to the SPB forums but SPB needs someone to take that ball and run with it. I wonder if NASA and / or POC would be interested?

If any of the '16 winners are looking for cars to run in either TC or TCB, let me know. We have 2 TC class caymans and TCB class mini's. First race is at VIR in march I believe.

Cory...I have 3 or 4 guys who won last year that were looking into the possibility, and they needed cars, likely to rent. Send me the details on what you have and I will pass along. Email:cup944@aol.com

How much of a budget is required for a full season? Single race? PM me if you wish.

I cannot answer those questions. Cory may have that info. Or, I can direct you to a PWC official that could provide you some idea. Presuming there are many variables. You can send all inquiries to cup944@aol.com

Looking forward to what others say about the budget per race weekend and/or season. I did explore running some PWC races 2 years ago and it was $12K or so for a weekend for most TC teams, plus applicable insurance and travel. It was close to what a typical PCA race weekend is running my 997 cup where extended travel was required, airfare, car rental and all the extra costs you don't have when racing within driving distance.

I'm sure Van can add to this topic based on his real life experience.

do you think anyone would be motivated for this prize, considering 3k for entry is less than 10% of what it takes to run a weened race with PWC?

If SPB had it I woulda stayed and it's not less than 10% for TCA or TCB

I will send out an email/PM tomorrow. The cayman's are super fun cars to drive. With the current rules package they should be very competitive. The TCB is also great. Crazy close racing in that class.

Yes, with a 3,000 dollar entry and an approx 20,000-30,000 weekend cost , it's over 10%, but not by much.

Joe, you're in the ball park. When I ran TCB, I found the largest expense was car transport and my and my "crew's" (friends) travel and lodging. If you're paying someone for transport, plan on $2/mile. If you're paying for a crew chief/mechanic, plan on $1000-1500 weekend.

I'd spend $8-10k per weekend for the TCB car. I know teams that will rent TC cars (full arrive and drive) for $20k per weekend. I imagine TCA is somewhere in between.
