Help with this cars value
Hi guys
I'm hoping for some feedback from the air cooled community as to what you believe this cars value is. Thank you in advance for your feedback.
Year 1977
Model 911S
VIN 9117202088
Exterior Color
WHITE / MARTINI
Interior Color
BLACK AND WHITE
Engine Size 3.6-LITER
Transmission 5-SPEED MANUAL
Description
This build was a professional 993 GT2 conversion build where cost was no object. A Getty 993 GT2 conversion kit with 1 ½" wider fenders was used. As the power-plant, a 3.6-liter engine was sourced from a 1992 Porsche 964 was chosen for this build. This engine came from a 42,000 mile 911 that had been totaled by a fallen tree. Since the build, a large-capacity fuel cell and countless other upgrades have been added to the car. Literally every nut and bolt has been replaced, rebuilt, upgraded or restored. Maintained in outstanding show-like condition (receipts provided) ), it has been lightly tracked at local tracks including Laguna Seca, Sears Point and Thunderhill. Maintenance records support that the Porsche has accumulated only 600 miles in the past five years. It's reliable and fast. Finally, the car was inspected by a qualified German repair specialist who performed a safety inspection, fluid change, complete tune-up, fresh oil service and brake flush.

Moving this to the Racing and Drivers Education forum. It's a '77 chassis powered by a 964 motor and with 993 body panels. Not really a 993.
It's a great-looking car. Who did the build? What internal engine upgrades? Suspension/chassis? Lap times? Too many variables at this point for anyone to give you an accurate estimate.

Thanks Mark
Unfortunately I don't have track times and or who built it Informatoion. The gentleman that currently owns the cars purchased it from a dealer in Portland,OR. The car currently resides in SanDiego. The current owner does not track the car. He owns several vintage cars and this is one of them. It's street legal and he only takes it out for back country drives. It's FS at Barrett Jackson Scottsdale. The build Information is limited to what I have posted.

Nice build !
As far as value goes , i did a 95 3.6 transplant in my 89 coupe as well as an all out suspension and brake upgrade and i`m well into the 60K landmark.
I suspect this car is worth much, much more !

My guess would be around $30-40k.

I think your slaking a bit Slaker. with the given information if the pictures are a correct to the currant state of the car then I would double your guess and say $60-80k.
Are you asking as a buyer or seller?
Built by a professionl means nothing. Names help.
I have seen street rods asking over $100K.
With the high value of aircooled cars lots of former race cars are being converted back to street cars.

Good looking car cosmetically but very limited info.
No info on suspension modifications: Is it stock? Coilovers? Bilstein, JRZ, etc? Rubber bushings or monoballs? Swaybars? etc. I assume it's a 915 trans: has it been regeared? does it have a limited slip? I assume the engine is totally stock and original.
For comparison here is a nice 3.6 powered RSR with a lot of nice (and expensive) modifications to the drivetrain and chassis. I've seen it in person and it's reliable and fast. It's for sale for $53.5k:

Not a chance, although we all wish. I would buy it in a heart beat at that price
This car will sell for 100,000+

Race Car
Maybe so. I race against a very similar car that the owner picked up off of eBay for $25k. 70's frame, gt-racing fiberglass body, 993 engine.
Based upon my very limited knowledge, the best way to value a "built" race car's resale value is to calculate the cost it would be to build it then divide it in half. With all of the money I've sunk into mine I wish it weren't so but that's the reality I've seen so far for cars that actually sell.

Correction, the eBay car has a 964, not 993 engine.

Looks like a nice car in the photos. As others have said, need more details on what's underneath. Brakes, suspension, miles on the trans and engine along with who did the build. Is the body conversion all fiberglass or carbon fiber? From what can be seen in the photos, it looks like the owner spent a large sum of money to build this car. Will be interesting to see what it hammers for at Barrett Jackson.

If you plan to race it, it will get smoked in its GT class. Prepare to spend some cash on power and gearing(?) not to mention what may or may not need to be done to the suspension(?). It is a beauty though. To me it would be a max $40K car because I'd have to race it and I hate not being competitive. I'd end up with at least $65K in it minimum.
