And that's for racing your own car (not renting theirs) so it excludes parts wear and risk of damage (insurance).

All of those guys are great. I had my Miata with Nick at Flatout but all the other guys are really good as well. The paddock is a fun group of guys.

You can spend as much as you want in SM. But you can get by on a lot less than the front guys as well and still be competitive.

The front pack guys are spending money on racing all the time. The lead guys are often at races 10-12 weekends a year. That makes things expensive as much as anything.
