How about PCA giving out a unique race car number each time it issues a PCA racing license? The number becomes available for reallocation when/if the license expires (doesn't get renewed). Are there more than 1000 PCA license holders?

For the rare cases where someone races two cars in a single event, just add a letter (A or B) to the number of the second car. This way everyone can "hardcode" their number on their car without fear of being forced to change it due to not registering within seconds of reg open.

Could even be an extra revenue stream for PCA if, like vanity plates, it lets people bid on desirable numbers (single digits, etc.) after they get released by a license expiration/nonrenewal. Me? I could care less what number I run as long as I don't have to change it.

I believe there are close to 2000 holders in any one year and about 1300 actively race in that year.

Well there goes my plan... Four digit numbers wouldn't work.

You know, this is the epitome of a "rich guy problem".

"Wahhh, I can't get my desired number on my Porsche race car!!"

If this is our biggest complaint in life, Christ, aren't we the fortunate few! With that said, I still don't want those damn liberals digging in my pocket!!

BTW, Sebring Countdown Clock: 23 days before arrival!!!

I have never been to the track, be it HPDE or a club race, where I did not take a moment to think about how hard I worked to be there.

I'm not fortunate or lucky. I worked, and still work, to be there.

But I know what you are trying to say.

As one would expect on a racing thread of a Porsche forum.

Funny, I was looking into this last week trying to pick a number for 2017... I imported a bunch of mylaps.com data for random PCA club races to a spreadsheet and had it count appearances of each number. Totally crude but out of about 5000 data points--basically a car that ran in a session--it was good enough for my purposes.

The top ten most popular car numbers (not what I expected):
1) 12
2) 87
3) 37
4) 44
5) 024
6) 09
7) 17
8) 21
9) 22
10) 411

Pretty much everything ever posted on Rennlist is a first world problem of some sort or another. I wish I was going with you David. Too much going on to go this year but I will feel fortunate when do get out to my first race of the year at LRP.

agreed, unless I start running with a bunch of MOPAR people, I figure I am safe.

Hey, watch it. Just because I make $$$$ while I sleep (with my oil) doesn't mean you can pick on me.

Says the "rich" guy. (read that excuse somewhere)
