Mach 5

I'm doing a little test fitting of some planted brackets in a '86 951. I'm trying to figure out if I should use 5 or 6 point belts. If I go 6, it looks like I'll have to use bolt on mounting for the inboard belts (hole isn't large enough for two clip ons) and clip on for the outboard. However, if I can mount the sub belt to the Planted bracket (as in the pic), I could go with a 5 point. Is it acceptable (as in PCA DE tech) to have the sub belt mounted to a Planted bracket. These things are super beefy, and can't imagine that it would be unsafe, but that still might not pass tech. I'm trying to avoid drilling holes in the floor.

Most belt manufacturers want a 4 to 6 inch spread between the 6-point sub belt mounting points. And a 5-point sub strap is ideally placed with its mounting point that is in-line with a line drawn on your chest as you sit in the seat, which ends up just a bit ahead of your crotch.

Thanks for posting this. It looks like their Profi F models, 6 point, have the sub belts mounting at the same point as the lap belts, which is what I intended to do. I should probably just stick with this.

So it looks like the front cross bar would be a better mounting point for the sub belt. Depending on where the seat is positioned, that would be very close to the Schroth recommendation.

I'm considering planted bases for my Cayman.

I do not want to drill holes in the car for any belts.

Stable Energies recommend drilling holes in the front of the planted base and bolting these brackets to mount the sub belts.
