Corner balance. Weight down?
I'm working on my SP2 944. My corner weights were way off. My beginning overall weight was 2837. After corner balance my total weight is down about 50-75 lbs. Logic makes my head hurt. Am I missing something?

your scales/alignment pads level? scales accurate/calibrated? nothing else changed?
weight will not change with a balance. weight on each wheel can of course.

I'm using Hubstands. After each adjustment, I'm settling each corner. The scales I'm using have a calibration for alignment/level. Although I wonder if that calibration is robust. I zero the scales, then calibrate for alignment. If I then stand on the scales I get my accurate body weight on one, and a less number on the other. I assume this means they are calibrating. Sorry, I may be adding some confusion here. Thank you for replying.

Any flex in the hubstands will also change the weights if it causes the hub stand to bind in it's movement. That is why the MK and Porsche Motorsport stands are so beefy.

Thanks guys. I'll center the hub stands and check again. After that, I'll put the wheels back on weigh. It's difficult to lower the car onto the hubstands and get them to land, and take load, without flexing.

You can move weight corner to corner but the total will not change in corner balance. Actually the front axle and rear axle totals remain constant as well. Something else is wrong.

The HUBStands will have no impact on what each individual scale is reading as long as they are reasonably centered on each 15" scale pad. It looks like you are using scales with pads smaller than the tyoical 15" variety. If you are using a smaller scale pad, each pad needs to be exactly centered under each hub and with each HUBStand centered on the scale pad. Smaller scales can get edge bound very easily.

Matt, the standard HUBStands don't flex, don't bind when set up properly and will let you get the repeatable accuracy in set up measurements that serious track day enthusiasts and club racers look for. Or you can spend over twice as much for "beefy" competitive units or over five times as much for a Porsche set.

One of my buddies uses heavy duty ziplock bags with a good layer of grease inside to allow the tires, or stands in your case to slide and reduce the binding....
