Default General SP2 Questions

Hi. I'm slowly going through my new SP2 car. I have a few general questions...
I'm running a stock brake set up.

1. What race pads to most run?
2. Do you run stock rotors or is there a "go to" supplier for them?
3. What are the best shocks for this application? I know the SP3 guys are running JRZ remotes.
4. Do most run manual or power steering?

Thanks everyone. I've been working on the car all day. I can't wait to get it on the track.

Here is what I have on my SP2.

1. Hawk pads (HT10 and Blue or DTC 70 and 60)
2. Stock rotors
3. Motons Club sport
4. De-powered rack locked with shims.

This car has been very well prepared by Bill Comat and he has won three championship and had two third place finishes.
I started to race last year with this car and won few races.

Curious,

Whats the reasoning behind lowering the steering rack with shims?
the main part of the rack hooks to the cross member -- so what exactly are you lowering?

Shims (washers) are on the input shaft. No play anymore.

Manual steering is most common. Better feel and no drag on motor.

Many SP2 championships have been won with Koni sports. If you want to make your 944 more easily adjustable for your ride height or stiffness, go to a coil over system front and back and remove torsion bars. JRZ is a sponsor for the series, but there are many brands depending on your budget. Go stiff on the springs and sway bars.

LSD and short 5th tranny can make a difference also. Stay with 15 inch rims. Keep the car square with 7's or 8's.

best money spent is on improving your driving skills. Try a school like Bondurant.

1. What race pads to most run? Porterfield R4....more than enough braking power, smooth, no brake fade, and gentile on rotors, Stable Energies
2. Do you run stock rotors or is there a "go to" supplier for them? Stock OEM equivalent, Pelican Parts.
3. What are the best shocks for this application? I know the SP3 guys are running JRZ remote; Koni double adjustable F/R, Paragon, call Jason,
Tell him would year is the front suspension and what are the trailing arms, steel or aluminum. Car suspension components affects the damper (shock) options.
4. Do most run manual or power steering? Manual

I have a 944 SP2 with the above components. I upgraded my front suspension, replaced lower control arm urethane bushings with Racer Edge monoball, call Karl at Racer Edge.; replaced 450 lb/in front springs with 500 lb/in. The rear torsion bars are hollow 31 mm.

The front and rear anti roll bars are Weltmeister.

My car is neutral, predictable, and sharp on turn in. As 944 Cup stated, dropping lap times once the setup makes the car neutral is coaching. The 944 is a montenum car and one key to lower lap times is learning on the trail brake into the corner to get car rotation. Best of luck in the build. 944 is the best car to learn on
