Enclosed trailer winch pulley
Going to side mount winch with pulley run in middle of trailer to pull car up
Question is do I mount pulley precisely in middle of the trailer or do I offset it so that it lines up with tow hook on car (about a foot off the centerline)?
Thanks

And though you didn't ask, make sure the pulley and its mounting are up to the task, including pulling a busted car up the ramp.

Your goal should be to wrap the cable around the drum evenly. Since the car tow hooks are usually not in the middle, this is usually not possible. If you add a pulley in the middle of the drum (trailer), the cable should wrap evenly around the drum. I hope I understood your question correctly.

I did this in my last trailer and regretted it. IMHO, mount it in the front. It's better to put tool chest or other big items on the side and the winch in the front. If you are going to put it on the side, put another D-ring in floor with reinforcement under the floor in line with the tow hook and get a heavy duty pulley that you can leave on the winch line. Then just hook the pulley to the d-ring to pull car in. Keeps stuff out of the way so you don't trip on it.

I am planning on this - yes Dring in middle with removable pulley so I don't kill myself tripping
Middle mount isn't ideal for winch as it will take up cabinet space
I'll slightly offset Dring from middle of trailer to line up with tow hook
Winch is 4K which means almost an 8k line pull on 2460 car so hopefully will work in all instances
Smart idea? First enclosed trailer so this is all new

I would still put it in the cabinet. Easy to throw soft stuff on top of it for storage. You will eventually accumulate enough big things that won't fit in cabinet that need the floor space where you are planning on putting the winch.
Also, get a remote for the winch if you don't have one. So nice to have.

Remote is awesome but also keep the wired controlled somewhere in your trailer. Let my batteries die for the remote and luckily I still had my old wired one. Now I carry spare batteries as well.

This is how I have mine. I have a ton of stuff in the cabinets.

You can also take a section of chain that fits between the two front tie down rings, and attach the chain to those rings with slip hooks. Then attach the pulley/****** block to a grab hook that fits your chain, and you can adjust the location of the pull to suit the car's tow hook.

Three Wheelin'
It's a good idea to locate the pulling point not only laterally but also vertically if possible. If you don't, then as the car gets close to the pulling source when it's almost all the way loaded, the winch cable can wind up at sharp horizontal and/or vertical angles. Which can wind up pulling your tow hook hard sideways or downward and bend it (and just not pull efficiently).
