Default Ratings?

Any idea if the CF helmets will have the FIA rating? They look pretty nice but w/o FIA can't use them in IMSA WeatherTech.

Default FIA Roux helmets

Not sure they will pursue FIA testing - but will confirm.

Default More details on Roux Helmets

Below is some information we received direct from Toto at Roux that will hopefully answer most questions

There will be 3 models of the same shape helmet.

1) The fiberglass model will not have the water cooling system but will come wired for radios as well as having the integrated drink tube and RELEASE system. This model will be available only in mate black with SNELL 2015 certification and we expect to have some in stock mid to end of December. Expected price to be between $450 and $550.

2) The composite model will have all of the same features as the fiberglass helmet but it will also have the COOLEX water cooling system and it will only be available in Silver. This model will have SNELL 2015 and FIA 8859 certification but will not be available until mid to end of January 2016. Expected price to be between $750 to $900.

3) The Carbon helmet will have all the same features as the composite helmet and will have SNELL 2015 and FIA 8859 certification. This model will be available in gloss or matte carbon look. We expect to have these in stock mid to end of December. Estimated cost to be between $1300 and $1500.

All helmets will come with thin, medium, and thick cheek pads to adjust for maximum comfort. Also all helmets will come with a clear and a smoked shield plus a nice tool for all the hardware and include spare hardware. Also all helmets come equipped with HANS anchors.

All helmets will have a forward air intake scoop and there will also be a forced air scoop available but sold separately. The air is ducted to vent out above your eye brows and form an air curtain in front of your face for cooling and defogging the shield.

Default Roux Helmet Electronics

Another update from Toto

All radio components are SPEEDCOM. Every helmet will use Speedcom's patented RTM mic that cancels out about 90% of the ambient noise in the car cockpit. All helmets will come equipped with ear muff style speakers inside but there is an option to be able to use a standard jack for ear plugs. The radio connection is male instead of female like Stilo. We did this because if you loose your extension cable, you can at least plug a harness directly into the helmet.

We will also have quick disconnects to unplug in case of an emergency or for quick pit stops with driver change. The right side is fitted with the in and out water connections and the left side has the drink tube and radio connection.

Also, I forgot to mention that our carbon helmet is a half of an ounce lighter than the Stilo carbon ST4 and ours has all the water cooling gear already in it. We are also already working on an ultra lite version of the helmet which we have designed to meet FIA 8860 certification.

A formula car version of the ultra lite version will come around the same time and this will have a smaller eye port and come equipped with Zilon strip on the shield and incorporate Zilon reinforced penetration areas for maximum safety in open cockpit environments. We expect to have these models available mid summer of 2016.

Default Roux Radio Helmet Connections

We are told your radio harness will plug directly into whether you have the IMSA or NASCAR style plug.

bumping this up. Now mid-March and I'm in need of a new helmet this season. Really interested in Roux but any ideas if they'll be available for this season? I'm going to need something by May so I'll likely make my decision in the next few weeks.

Composite is supposed to be $899

Carbon supposed to be $1399

Fiberglass will be phased in a couple months later in the neighborhood of $499.

I'm waiting to hear if we can post prices from Roux so we can start taking pre-stock orders.
