Somewhat related, the standards are composed of pretty specific impact tests that don't really replicate any particular accident - as each accident has unique dynamics. So even though a stricter standard does mean overall better protection in an impact, it does not mean a given helmet will protect a given driver's head in a given impact.

Then I'm not sure it's possible to answer the question.

Not to derail this thread, but your thoughts are partially correct. Here is a good video about a bit of it and I'm sure their are some more on their Youtube channel.

I'm just as interested in the corollary: Will the more expensive helmet last longer, be more durable, stand up to regular use better... That's my question about the Roux.

My husband had purchased this as a Xmas gift for me, the Kevlar composite, and it finally arrived yesterday!

It is nicer than I expected. However, there was no "owners manual" in the pkg, and the fit is LARGER than what seems safe even when I add the thickest padding insert. But, if I insert TWO sets of padding superimposed, then it does fit snugly.

Question for Roux users: Has anyone ever driven with padding inserts "layered" onto each other?
Is that a safe thing to do?

Got my fiberglass R-1 today. Very happy with the fit and finish of the helmet. I'm hoping Apex has a adaptor cable to go from female IMSA to male 3.5mm.

I would not put two layers of the padding inserts. Those are for fit, not safety. Two layers would be too much (IMHO). You are betting off getting the right size.

Does anyone know what the connector piece and size is for the cooling connections?

I was going to make some adapters from cool shirt to helmet.

I think these will work --

Pegasus Racing

CS461 Cool Shirt 1/4 inch Connector, Standard, Female (each) $8.00

To delete, change qty to 0 & update.
$16.00 In Stock

CS468 Cool Shirt 5/16 inch Connector, Standard, Female (each) $8.00

To delete, change qty to 0 & update.
$16.00 In Stock

thanks,

Mike
