I have a new to me 2006 Cayman S. This is a fully caged track dedicated car with 18 inch wheels. What tires and sizes do you guys run?

Thanks

Jeff

Are you looking for Hoosiers or Slicks?

I'm thinking Hoosiers. I'm thinking 245/35/18 Front and 295/30/18 rear - based on another RL recc. This keeps the front to rear diameter difference almost spot on to he original tires. Anyone see a fit issue ( esp in the rear) or have a better suggestion ?

Thanks
Jeff

My 2009 race car has Hoosier R7s and I use the sizes you proposed. But since neither yours not mine are stock that's not the final answer.
What sizes are on the car now? What does your race shop advise?
Congrats on the car!

I used to run the same sizes on my Cayman. Needed some spacers in the rear to avoid rubbing.

If you aren't racing I would suggest 245-40-18 and 275-40-18. Abs is more sensitive than on .2.

I like for the rears 275's they are a bit narrower but allow for better rotation- I also recommend Hankooks as the are a savings of 35 % and I believe are faster and last longer. But you'll want to buy a few sets at once as they frequently become unobtainium by mid to late season.

+1. You can certainly over-tire the rear of a cayman. The 275 gives the chassis good balance, IMO.

I have run BFG R1 in 245/40 F and 275/35 R, Hankook Z-214 245/40 F and 275/35 R, and take off Pirelli slicks in 245/645 F and 285/645 R.
All fit without spacers or rolled fenders using "standard" wheel offsets.
