Just had a great pit/paddock buddy! I admit, have no clue what happened. After I got going again & felt the car was ok I ran the same line & got up on the rumbles a few times & the car felt fine. Only second time I've spun the thing. Almost new tires, just CB'd & aligned.

Wasn't car to car and so light contact I kept going. After the race I checked in with the officials but it wasn't called in by the corner workers since I got going again right away so nothing was noted. Just a little green paint on the fender and rubber bumper guard that came off with WD40.

Yikes!
Looks to me as if you bumped the right side curbing as you turned in and then your LR tire went over the apex curbing which can really upset the back end of the car...which then came around when you held steering lock just a hair too long.
Glad you emerged unscathed!!!

I'm always glad to see one get away with an error, why should the stakes be so high always?
I think you should raise your camera a little higher, get a better perspective.

I know running over the curbing is not recommended most of the time, but bumping the outside curbing on T5 at RA is common in a 944. The outside wheels tend to slide on the paint under braking while the inside wheels grip. Helps to rotate the car. Take a good look at the outside curbing sometime and note the tire marks. Having said that, I try not to hit the inside at the apex. If you hit it high enough it can upset the balance since you are on throttle at that point. Don't know if this method will work for all cars, especially the faster ones.
