I shake my head at the guys doing sub 2:30's at Sebring in GT3's and 99Xs' with no Hans and stock seats and 3 points...

its so funny, because all the guys getting killed are in street cars in DEs. I would think that there are more wrecks in DE than most of the normal race classes . ( sans the spec piñatas)
some how, folks think that fire and impactG forces don't apply to you if you are in a street car?

That stuff is $1000 per linear foot with a 4 foot minimum. Most DE and club racers just need lots of run off space.

Don't the nissans come with an emergency shut off switch?

if so, hes an idiot if he didn't dive for the key or off switch, or put the clutch in. I doubt that is the case though.

usually, the stockish systems have a front to rear separation. that only gives rear braking, but with a blown line, all the fluid seems to just pump out of the blown line and nothing goes to the rears, as I had with my experience. quick downshifts, can really slow the car down a LOT!

Did you see my complete brake failure at laguna? (go to 5:40) even faster, but a little more asphalt runoff than turn 13 t-hill. like that firebird did a couple of years ago...... downshifting is HUGE . you need to blip and downshift, and turn, or you are on a high speed ride!

you had no chance at turn 10 to do anything!

I hear what you're saying, wouldn't do any door to door racing without one, but with only two DE's left this year, I'm gonna roll the dice... I always stock up on my safety stuff around Xmas, already had the following conversation with my girlfriend: "...I know that $1295 seems like a lot of money, but isn't my neck worth it? Plus, it's carbon fiber and it's lighter. Thanks honey!"

Amazing how many armchair quarterbacks we have here.

Peak speed on thhat straight was 152 MPH for Mr. Bell just before brake failure. He was able to get the car slowed to 136 MPH at impact. I would say he is anything but an idiot, given how little real estate in which he accomplished this...

Thunderhill T14: https://rennlist.com/forums/racing-a...t14-crash.html

You can safely simulate a brake line failure by opening a bleeder. Crack a bleeder, drive it at 15mph then stomp the pedal. If there's no stopping at all then I'd call that unacceptable, personally...

Brake failure & fire are my 2 biggest on track fears!

I doubt the pros get charged for track damage. I was there on Friday but was at T-19 so I didn't see the accident in person. I wounder how many sq feet of AstroTurf they replaced at the exit of 15, 19 & 20 during the Tudor race!

Off course, abundant run-offs beat barriers, but cushy barriers beat walls and armcos.
