spun by a nudge from his own teammate. basically explodes a $250k cup car, probably $10, $15k of stuff left, a door maybe a rear wing. who knows.
thats a write off, real shame.
im a bit amazed that the motor came out so easily. ive seen 997s get pegged back there hard and have never seen that before. either it was a 1 in a million hit in the very right spot, but my guess is a few engineers are porsche are looking at that, and figuring out of the engine supports/mounts/bolts, etc need to be beefed up or something. a motor getting hit out of a cup car in a wreck which certainly wasnt that 'heavy' turn 1 off the line, has me atleast wondering if something is designed wrong.

the commentator says the engine is ripped out, then they pan to the incar shot and says the motor is still running......... now that would be impressive as it lays on the track 10 yards away

A heart can still beat a few times outside of the body. Maybe it had not yet seized. The scary part was watching him get broad sided just sitting there. Nice to see him walk away.

Don't think the 991 chassis was designed with the old Mezger motor in mind so that'd be the first thing to investigate.

Maybe it's a new design feature added after the 991 GT3 engine fires. If the engine catches fire, just jettison it! Brilliant!!

LMAO! I was going to say that this is the car's way of asking for its old Mezger block back.

Very disturbing about the engine. Good to see him walk away.

That's what I thought... I don't think I will be as fond of the new engine until they have been proven like the Mezger has. I wonder when they will show up in competition?
