Not imminent, AFAIK. The last fatality in the Club was 1986, Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix.
It's all relative. Most other groups active operating competition events for the last fifty-five years have no better record...
I'm not promoting racing cars without fuel cells and roll bars (or cages), but I am thankful that that option still exists for those who choose to do that.
We make Europe and the UK look like the Wild West!

As a nation we have fought very hard and at great cost for our freedom to choose. This is just another choice. I might not share some choices but I respect them even when they plain scare me.
A similar argument could be made when I choose to go out on my bicycle, motorcycle or my vintage Porsches out on the road with 18-wheelers, SUV's and drunks.
Let's all be safe.....

hmmmm ... a vehicle with no roll over protection, little crumple zones, and skinny tires...... kind of on par with motorcycle racing without the advantage of being ejected? I think we all do a risk analysis on all that we do. Many people have died doing all the crazy stuff i do..... and kids today push it even further. As was said we all make choices. Personnally, I dont see the thrill of "racing " something so slow and unstable. A lot of folks dont understand why i race either, But, as was said.. "to each his own."
