Default Hallett resurface update!

Posted on the Hallett FB page...

I know many of you have been waiting patiently to hear some news. Some not so patiently. One motorcycle guy for example showed up to walk the track. He smiled a lot. Of course, he always does.

So here it is. The track is done. The infield is done. SURPRISE!!! It looks great everywhere. There is some backfilling needed around the edges where the dropoff is drastic. Scott has a plan for that next week but it won't get done today.

Tomorrow COMMA and HST go on the new Hallett surface for the first time. Kyosti took a few laps in his Porsche and was impressed according to him. Don't tell the guys at Keystone Chevrolet but I put the pace car through it's paces. I was as impressed with the car as the track.

Even if you are not racing this weekend you should come and check out the track and say "hi" and "thank you" to Connie and Scott for stepping out to make HMRC the best it can be.

That looks like Kyosti driving it. Any more pics? I heard that not everything was paved.

Doesn't that take month? If compacted/compressed what are the consequences?

Secret slingshot gullies in T1, T6 and T10.

Track resurfaced from the bottom of the bitch all the way through T6. The straight from 6 through 7 and 8 remains as is.

Curing is important however if they rolled it correctly and used the right mix of aggregate and binders it will be ok.

That's great. Hallett is a great track and this just makes it better. Now if they could add an entry bridge or tunnel it would be perfect.

I wish Heartland Park would take note and copy.

FWIW...I spent the weekend on track. Two cars in my run group (a 6Cup and me), opportunity for T/T and to shake the cobwebs before my season starts.

1. The track will be very fast once it really cures and some rubber gets laid down. It is sublime in most spots and a joy to drive.
2. Familiar old rises and falls are still there, most of the familiar camber in certain corners remains, some has shifted a foot or two to the right or left.
3. A few notable smaller tricks now exist; an experienced racer will find these and learn to use them (or avoid them).
4. Track new, as noted earlier, from the bottom of 9 all the way around to the exit of 6.
5. It is wonderful to be able to pit out and drive in any direction (even all the way down to the shop) without picking up ANY gravel at all.
6. The entire place looks great!!!
