8 ft wide trailer for spec boxster?

Default 8 ft wide trailer for spec boxster?

Currently using an 8.5 open trailer to haul the Spec Boxster. Would an 8 foot wide enclosed work for the car? I'm looking at a 20 footer...

depends on the true internal width re. trailer wheel well boxes

i have a 20' x 8.5' featherlite that hauls my SPB with 4-5" to spare both sides between the well boxes and the car

The 8 ft. wide I'm looking at has 81" between inner fenders...

Should work. Mines 8'4" outside car fits fine I can drive it in crack the door just a bit to wiggle out the door. Winch in is easy.

You'll hear it over and over but its true, if you can tow and store it a 24 gives you much more flexibility. I have a 20 but its extra tall so racks on the sides but without that it would be a challenge to carry everything in a 20'...

I Agree 24' would be best, but I just don't have the room...

In order to make getting in and out of the car easier you may want to get a side door above the wheel wells on the driver's side. Make sure that the car door clears the trailer door. It makes loading significantly easier after a long weekend at the track.

The boxster is surprisingly wide. Wider than a 996 at the rear by a good amount. It is hard enough getting out of a SPB in an 8.5 foot wide trailer.

The bottom of my SPB door hits my wheel well and to exit I have to stand on my nascar bars and step over the door onto the wheel well.

If you have an escape door and/or the bottom of the the car door clears your wheel well then life will be great.

Mine fits in 81" no problem but I have remove the nuts that hold the door on so I can just whip it on and off as needed. Much easier to getting out without the door in place.

The door seems perfectly secure once closed without the hinge pin bottom nuts on. They are so little (I think 5mm) they can't possibly be part of any structural system.

^^^I thought so too, I ran the cup without, made it much easier to load...until I saw two separate incidents with flying cup doors, now I run them pinned...

^^^ Laurie, remember at TWS a SPB lost it's driver side door because it wasn't bolted, just hung. When I had an open Roy's trailer, the door would hit the tire with the fender removed. My options were: get skinnier, winch or bolt down ramps/blocks to raise the car up.

I was also told to run without the door bolts... I had an agricultural at NJMP and the ensuing bounce caused my door to pop out of the hinge. I came into the pits holding the front side of my door in my left hand with the rear side still in the door latch.
