Kumho V710 & Nitto NT-01 Anyone compare (and a size question)
Have been running Kumho V710 on my '04 996 track car. Tried to order a new set today and was told there is a national back order and may be a while before they are available. Has anyone compared the V710 to the Nitto? Did a search but didn't find this exact comparison.
Also, i'm lost when it comes to tire size and it's impact so excuse my ignorance. The Nitto does not come in the same size i'm running in the kumho. Will any of these combos work?
Currently running kumho 245/35/18 in the front and 305/30/18 in the rear. The nitto is available in 245/40/18 and 305/35 or 315/30. Would either of these work?

I've run both tires on my 02 996 J-prepared car which has 8.5" front wheels and 11" rear wheels. I currently run the 315/30r18 on the rear and 245/40r18 on front with Nitto. The Kumho V710's are a much faster tire due to their increased "stick" (they're a treadwear 40 tire compared to the Nitto treadwear of 100) - they are easily worth a 2-3 seconds a lap compared to Nitto NT01's at Cal Speedway. Plus the Kumho's have a smaller rolling diameter so the gearing change with Kumho's is a lot nicer and requires a change in your shift points. But the Kumho's are really only good for 1 weekend with my car which is about 3180lbs off-track weight - their drop in stick is noticeable after 1 weekend of use with about 4 sessions per day of a race event. I tried to run them for a second weekend, and sadly wasted my second race weekend because I was sliding all over, and even had a hard time braking as the fronts got into ABS a lot. The Nittos really don't change in stick until they cord which I much prefer.
Hope that helps!

Yes. Those sizes will work fine. 710 is faster initially and then falls off. Nittos slower initially but last longer and will get faster as they go down to the cords. And u can run NT01 to the cords. 710 heat cycles out
