Having missed First Fling, I am hoping to get up there before the club race to put a few laps on the new surface. Slowpokes event is on July 3rd, but they are running the short course. BIR Performance School on July 15th is scheduled to be a half day on the short course and the 2nd half on the full course, so might try to attend that.

I get that you don't have its acceleration but your exit speed out of turn 10 should be much higher.

My speedo likes to try to scare me at the end of the straight and again going into turn 2. GPS isn't quite as optimistic, but have still logged around 140 mph in the G class 951 on old tires and lifting for T1 during DE's. Have yet to log a qualifying run on fresh tires, but can safely assume it pulls a couple more mph. But as Bruce, Brett, and Kevin can attest to, there are plenty of cars that have no problem motoring right around our lower class cars down the front straight. No doubt some are hitting 150s-160s. Going back a few years now, Watson's old GT1R had to be approaching the 170 range.

it is my understanding that Tommy McGlynn is going to get his GT1R out, after its spent the last two years at the 901 Shop in Florida. He ran pretty tough in that car back in about 2002-2003 and it will be interesting to see how fast he is with the repaving.

Just looked at some online video of the newly resurfaced BIR, the track is smooth, faster and much wider. Anybody have any idea on how much faster it is?

Cory, if I remember correctly, my 996 Cup was making 163 mph at the end of the straight away, I would spent .4 sec off from full throttle (in between coming from the long straight to go at it again in T1), and start doing your prayers for T1 and T2. T1 is a turn that will truly wake you up if your line is not spot on.

I have not seen the track with the new pavement but my motorcycle buddies tell me it is absolutely fantastic.

I would love to see you over here this Summer.

T1 sounds like a lot of fun! We are working on logistics to see if we can go. Trying to figure out how to get from Indianapolis to Brainerd overnight to make the event. What's the weather normally like up there this time of year? I am guessing it would be a great place to race in the summer. (especially compared to being down south).

The race is held on what is historically one of the nicest weekends of the summer. Limited if any rain. Normally sunny and warm for Minnesota

Cory..... turn one each time you go thru you swear you wont lift for the next lap, but you do. I do not run any fancy smanchie high tech telemetry like Fernado, but his .4 sounds about right. Turn 2 is no slouch either, rear end steps out at 130, but its the fastest way thru. Game changer will be new pavement! I know its a haul, but would be nice to see you there.

the track is fun all by itself but if you're in a group of similarly paced cars, the drafting battles are more fun than you can usually have with your clothes on.

Doug - were you driving on Hwy 36E, exiting on Snelling this afternoon? Not too many yellow 993TT's around town.

Jim Buckley asked me to send a shout out to E class racers for an E class shoot out at Brainerd. With the track repaving and recontouring it will be the first event for almost all on the fresh track and a perfect opportunity for a shoot out. 10 E class cars now with more coming
