Default Cayman Bolt-In Cage -Removable NASCAR Door Bars - Check It Out

Now you see them...

...now you don't

Our solution for being able to run NASCAR door bars AND keep your doors and windows. Since it's an 8" slip fight design, it's legal for SCCA.

That is brilliant! How's elbow clearance, though?

Having seen this car up close, I can say that the cage and everything else with respect to it is just plain awesome. I'm totally going to copycat those door bars on my 914...

Guys,

Thanks for the positive feedback.

I know that there are many that will criticize having slip-fit door bars but sometimes we have to sacrifice some things to execute others. Elbow clearance is good. Those bars really need a skinned-race door with all sheet metal removed because they extend a way.

Thanks again.

John

I did a similar thing on my car ten years ago, I'm sure yours is better though!

Hi John - does this work without removing the door panels? Or do you switch out the door like the other Daytona Special you guys put together?

I'm guessing this is a dumb question.

I don't know Jerry, that looks pretty friggin' awesome and a decade earlier. I think you get the thumbs up on this one!

There are no dumb questions in this industry! I wanted to try and make them work WITH the door panels but everything was too tight and you didn't get enough extension for it to be worth the additional work of being something. So unfortunately, you need two sets of skinned doors for driver and passenger. We took our gutted and trimmed Grand-Am doors that removed 20 lbs from each door and wrapped them to be a matching set. It's a bit of work but when completed, it's nice for the owner to be able to take the car away for the weekend and have functioning window glass, etc.

SCCA Touring 2. The PDK transmission and the allowance of free spring rates, sway bars, aero, GT3 control arms and GT3 toe links was submitted to try and make the car competitive in T2 where a 996 with those permitted mods is the current fast car. While the PDK is rumored to become legal ASAP, the suspension kit supposedly will not be legal until 2013.
