This week, Matt Halliday is joining us again. He's racing in the iRacing Pro Race next week, so he requested the car and track to prepare a little bit.

I know this isn't an IT forum, but I am thinking about my iRacing options using some existing hardware. We have a relatively new (2009?) and unloved HP laptop (AMD Turion 64) that has battery issues but is otherwise fully functional (when plugged in). With an external monitor, could I repurpose this thing as an iRacing machine? (NVIDIA nForce 430/410 controller.)

What is your goal? Just to have a quick try of iRacing and see what it's all about? It should work for that.

But, if you are looking to use that laptop for some real racing, it might be a bit too old. Laptops are already a bit under-powered to start, but older ones like that will make iRacing run at a crawl.

For the last race of the year, I thought we'd go big! The 24hr of Daytona coming up and I already have lots of our drivers training for the real race.
