Default Rubens Barrichello at the FWT

A bit OT, but Rubens Barrichello was at the Florida Winter Tour (first round, Orlando Kart, FL) and was supposed to be interviewed live on the FWT Live website.
www.floridawintertour.com

Max Papis was there racing as well, in addition to some other names (Fittipaldi, etc).
Rob D'amico (TV/radio commentator for Fox Sports IIRC) was a first time competitor in the Master's class as well.

Always nice to see some 'big names' mingling with the karts and kids...and folks like me, clueless karting dads.

Nah not OT...has everything to do with racing. I want to go to one of these events and it would be awesome to get to meet someone like Rubens.

There are 2 race weekends each months in Florida for Jan, Feb and March for the FWT.
www.floridawintertour.com
Jan (Orlando)
Feb (Moroso/Palm Beach)
Mar (Ocala GP).

There is also a new series running, the CKI/WSK Winter Cup, Jan, Feb, Mar, always at Homestead.

Between that, you should be able to see quite a few pro drivers in the pits and driving.

Andre Martins, the guy that is running the Orlando Kart Center is really doing a top notch job with that facility. They have had some amazing arrive-n-drive endurance kart races, and they seem to be putting all of the money made right back into the track. Andre also runs TonyKart Florida, and has some major connections through that. M.Schumacher raced for TonyKart at the major kart race in Vegas a few months ago.

About 6-10 months ago it was just a big paved lot with some cones and whitelines marking out the course. Andre took over running the kart center and they are now hosting major races with some major talent. Night time lighting has been added, as well as the course is now a permanent track complete with the appropriate sanctioned type of curbing. Once they have the proshop and other facilities up and running, it will be one of the best karting tracks in the Southeast.

A lot of the guys that participated in the PRI kart races went out to OKC for some testing/practice before that event.

Now if only the rest of the Orlando Racing Complex could get their act together like Andre has done for the karting facility.
